Therapeutic riding programs work miracles!
Therapeutic riding programs utilize the horse's multidimensional movements to:
- facilitate muscular simulation to improve balance, flexibility, and coordination.
- increase strength and muscle tone.
- improve learning skills for children with cognitive impairments.
Therapeutic riding programs also include physiological treatments that aid children with learning disabilities.
"Hannah has gained confidence that carries over to all aspecsts of her life. She looks forward to each riding session so she can be with all her 'horse friends'. We are extremely grateful for all the people at Wonder Kids."

The horses walking rhythm is similar to the human's walking pattern and provides a treatment modality not available through traditional therapy. The rhythmic side to side, back and forth, up and down movements' of the horse is utilized by skilled therapists; it is this natural three-dimensional movement of a walking horse that helps to improve, balance, gross and fine motor skills, flexibility, and muscle strength.
Children with speech, hearing, and sight disabilities, as well as those with cognitive impairments, benefit from equine-assisted therapy too.
In addition to helping children with neuro/muscular disorders, horses have a special capacity for helping to heal children with traumatic and emotional disabilities.
We help our children to build physical skills, social skills, self-confidence and independence.
OUR PROGRAMS...
Programs are provided by a team of NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Association) certified instructors, who volunteer their time and talent; also, whenever necessary physical and occupational therapists assist.
Our "equine assistants" are carefully selected and patiently trained to provide the best possible equine partners for our students.
Recreational and educational programs at Wonder Kids help our children develop a healthy and happy lifestyle.
