Wonder Kids Therapeutic Equestrian Center, Inc., located in Abingdon, VA is a non profit 501 (C)(3) organization, began in early 2004. Six special education students and three therapy horses,"EG", "Emma", and "Skeeter" began the dream. Our program is unique in many ways, one being that we are staffed totally through volunteers, and survive financially through fund raisers, grants, and donations from people in our community.
We offer a child with special needs a type of non-traditional equine assisted treatment, thus known as therapeutic horseback riding. We create a safe, effective, educational and fun learning environment for our children whose recreational opportunities are sometimes limited. Our children are encouraged to focus on their abilities, rather than their disabilities.

Most of the children at Wonder Kids have not been able to fully participate in school activities or team sports. Wonder Kids creates an environment where they are blue ribbon winners and world champions!
